Few years back when I build my first website I struggled to index my website to popular search engines. As a web developer I spend a lot time in learning ways to quick, easy and correct listing of websites to various search engines. I would like to share few simple techniques for effective and quick listing of a website in Google and other popular search engines.
Submit Your Site (Or Add your URL):
The first and the easiest way is "Submit you site" or "Add your URL" option.
Almost all search engines provide a page where you could submit the URL of your website.

Web Directories are like reference libraries for websites based on the content of website. Directory listing is usually of two types, one is free (i.e. http://directory.google.com/) and another is paid (i.e. http://dir.yahoo.com/).
Listing your site to online web directories improve your chances to list your site quickly. Especially Google give lots of weightage to DMOZ directory, which it uses internally.

Linking your site with other popular websites really helps you to list your site and increase page rank of your website in search engines. From linking I mean posting links of your website to other website, blogs or discussion forums etc. If those sites are frequently visited by search engines then those search engines quickly pick up your website and index it. This means much quicker indexing then all above steps.
Here are few easy ways to link your site with popular website:
If you have a blog, post your website link to it.
Add your website URL in you signature when you make posts to discussion forums.
Ask other website to share there links. From sharing I mean you add there link to your website and they add yours.
